Overall, the watch is in mint condition. Dial and hands show original tritium luminous mass, that has patinated to a sand color. The subdials are perfectly clean. The watch case appears to be in excellent condition, with its characteristic chamfers, very clean and sharp. The very rare pulsation bezel is in very good condition. The watch was recently serviced by our watchmaker, runs with a very high amplitude, keeping very accurate time (315, +3s/d). The watch comes from a collector in Germany. Certainly, the best condition reference ‘Nina Rindt’ we have found. Absolutely insane timepiece! The watch shows a caseback engraving: ‘In Memory of Captain Grover M. Herman jr. 1945’. The watch comes with an UG extract of the archive.
Upon a short google search of Mr. Herman jr. this can be found: The Silver Star is presented to Grover M. Hermann, Jr. (0-349102), Captain (Infantry), U.S. Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with Service Company, 7th Armored Infantry Battalion, 8th Armored Division in Germany on 25 January 1945. Captain Hermann was given the mission of moving a portion of his company to the rear of a heavily fortified chateau from which the Germans had an excellent field of fire. Captain Hermann with a portion of his company succeeded in obtaining this objective. His outstanding demonstration of force and initiative enabled the battalion to complete its mission. Captain Hermann was killed in the accomplishment of this mission. Captain Hermann’s personal bravery and inspiring leadership reflect great credit upon himself and the Military forces of the United States. Hometown: Cook County, Illinois.
