This particular watch represents one of a very few (possibly only 3) Rodania 817 chronographs that have resurfaced in the past couple of years. The watch is completely identical to the Lemania Viggen – a watch issued to the Swedish Air Force as well as sold as a civil version. On the dial – the applied Rodania signature appears to be an oval sticker above the original ‘Lemania’ signature. A similar watch was features on HODINKEE ‘Bring a Loupe’ column last year. It seems that the Rodania is a civil version, as there are no military engravings on the caseback. Rodania, usually, provided tool chronographs to the Canadian military. The watches share the same case, dial, bezel and movement.
